Neuro-IFRAH Therapy in Solana Beach & San Diego
A specialized, hands-on approach to neurological rehabilitation for stroke and brain injury recovery.
Introduction
If you've been searching for "Neuro-IFRAH therapy near me," you've likely already done your research. You know that not all therapy is the same — and that recovering from a stroke or brain injury requires more than general strengthening exercises.
Neuro-IFRAH is the most advanced neurological rehabilitation approach available. And it's the foundation of everything I do.
I'm Spencer Goff, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and trained Neuro-IFRAH practitioner based in Solana Beach, California. I work with stroke survivors and brain injury patients throughout San Diego County who are ready to pursue a higher level of recovery.
What Is Neuro-IFRAH?
Neuro-Integrative Functional Rehabilitation And Habilitation (NEURO-IFRAH®) is an approach originated by Waleed Al-Oboudi, MOT, OTR/L. Waleed Al-Oboudi, MOT, OTR/L is a therapist and educator in the field of rehabilitation nationally and internationally for over 40 years. He is the originator of the Neuro-IFRAH® approach and is known for his concepts and clinical skills in the treatment and management of patients affected by a stroke or brain injury. The unique name of the approach was originated by the author to give an overall idea to the reader regarding the scope of this approach.
How Neuro-IFRAH Differs from Standard Therapy
Most people recovering from stroke receive general physical therapy — exercise programs designed to build overall strength, improve range of motion, and compensate for deficits. This has value, especially early in recovery.
Neuro-IFRAH goes further. Instead of working around impairments, it works to resolve them.

Compensatory Strategies
Generalized Strengthening

The goal isn't to help you adapt to your deficits — it's to reduce them.
Diagnoses Treated
Neuro-IFRAH is intended to be used for rehabilition of persons with a lesion at the level of the brain stem or above
for example:
I use the Neuro-IFRAH approach to treat adults with:
- Stroke (ischemic and hemorrhagic)
- Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Acquired brain injury
- Hemiplegia and hemiparesis
- Foot and gait dysfunction after neurological injury
- Upper extremity impairment — weakness, spasticity, or loss of hand function after stroke
I work with patients at all stages — from those recently discharged from inpatient rehab to long-term survivors who have plateaued with conventional therapy and want to explore what's still possible.
Why Work with a Neuro-IFRAH Advanced Trained Therapist
Neuro-IFRAH training is intensive and relatively exclusive. Therapists who practice it have made a significant commitment to neurological rehabilitation as a specialty — it's not an add-on to a general therapy practice.
For my patients, that specialization means every session is built around your neurological recovery, not a one-size-fits-all program.
If you've been told you've reached your plateau, or if you feel like conventional PT has run its course, I'd encourage you to reach out. In my experience, there is almost always more progress to be made.
